Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands got an action-packed reveal trailer and if the first look is anything to be excited about, I can say we might be in for one fun game. Wonderlands is a standalone Borderlands universe title, taking the queue from Borderlands 2’s infamous DLC, Assault on Dragon Keep. Characters are thrown into the imaginary world of Borderlands version of dungeons and dragons and led by Tiny Tina, the game-master through the plot. The trailer sets up that this is another game Tina is conducting and in it, we see what a full commitment to this kind of premise can bring.
It being a Borderlands game, guns are important. The video shows us a good variety and while some weapons are familiar from Borderlands 3 we do see some cool new weapons that cater to the magic theme, which gives them a touch of freshness. Classes are teased throughout, and all seem like they will incorporate different magical/medieval attacks for the action skills.
The quick shots of new locales are great and the enemies match this level of quality giving us a look at all the crazy enemies this world will bring. Skeletons, dragons, and mushroom goblins are all showcased and it’s great that Gearbox can have a fresh batch of enemies for this game to breathe new life without feeling the need to include established known enemies into the game.
Wonderlands made a good first impression, and even though it’s built on the same engine as Borderlands 3 was, it brings with it fresh ideas and a bright new look.
