The first reveal trailer for the sequel to 2018’s God Of War shows off many things we expected to see in the upcoming sequel and some surprises too. First off, the trailer shows us that time has passed in the form of Atreus being much more grown-up. A teenager now, he wants to know more about who he really is in the world after learning he was named “Loki” by his late mother. It looks to set up good tension as Kratos still wants to live the quiet life he set out to when he entered this new realm. We get teases of Freya’s return as a now lethal enemy to Kratos and whispers of a possible war with Thor and Asgard. Beyond the story elements, we get a look at new ways of traversal, new additions to combat combos, and a small glimpse of a large boss fight. Everything looks bloody and brutal, in typical God Of War fashion with fights shown off in varied settings and seasons which should mix up the visuals throughout the narrative.
I am hoping we get a gameplay demo soon to really dive into the new iteration in this massive saga.
