Welcome to The Catch-Up, where we highlight game news from the week prior to get you up to speed on some of the exciting things coming to the industry.
- Apex Legends: Awakening Collection Event
Respawn plans to roll out its next collection event on June 21st. The event will bring changes to the ground loot pool with the R-301 and Rampage switching to the ground and the Wingman and Car SMG headed to the replicator for crafting. Event-specific skins for characters and weapons will be available along with Valkyrie’s heirloom and the return of the LTM, Control on World’s Edge. The event will run until, July 5th.
2. Assassins Creed 15th Anniversary
AC turns 15 and Ubisoft is bringing the celebration. First, Assassins Creed Valhalla was shown to have a second year of content for players which will all be free, including a new game mode set in Niflheim, the realm of the dead.
Discovery Tour was also shown off and will strip the game of its violent aspects to allow for learning of the time periods the game is set in. This looks to be a really cool idea and Ubisoft is even partnering with schools to bring this interactive medium to education.
Lastly, Origins got an update to 60fps for next-gen consoles and a September event was teased for a showing of the future of the franchise.
3. Overwatch 2 and Roadmap
Releasing on October 4th, Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play and have the well-known season-to-season content roll out. This will include new heroes, maps, and skins every 9 weeks and will also include the occasional game mode and PvE experiences. For more information head over to playoverwatch.com.
Thank you for stopping by and we will see you next Monday for your next catch-up!
